What happens if I fail the video tape?

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Should the videotape submission fail to pass the summative assessment process, then the GP registrar will normally be permitted to submit a further videotape submission following a period of specific education.

  • The duration and nature of this specific education should be agreed following  careful discussion between the Director, Course Organiser, GP trainer and GP registrar.

  • It is recommended that there should be some 3 months between the candidate failing the 1st video tape and submitting a 2nd video tape. This should ensure that the process is 'summative' rather than 'formative.

  • The 2nd video tape must be a new tape and not show any of the consultations from the original tape. Deaneries will check that the original and new tape are not identical

  • In the event of failure of the second videotape submission the Director will discuss the matter and how to proceed with the GP registrar and others involved in their training.
