Submitting a videotape for assessment

Recordings should be made in accordance with the guidance issued by the RCGP, MRCGP Video Assessment Criteria and COGPED Video

Videotapes, Workbook and video logbook summary sheet should be hand delivered or sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery to the Deanery Office.

A checklist for submitting the COGPED Summative Assessment Video and/or MRCGP/SA Single Route video is provided to assist in the process.

The videotape, videotape box and workbook should bear the following:

  1. Candidate’s initials
  2. Surname
  3. GMC number
  4. Summative Assessment Number
  5. MRCGP examination number

Labels will be provided by the Examination Department of the RCGP.

GP Registrars are advised to retain a copy of their tape and keep this in a secure place. The copy videotape should be erased and/or destroyed as soon as a pass is obtained.

Deanery Offices will send videotapes and supporting paperwork to the RCGP for assessment by the College’s panel of examiners via a courier or Royal Mail Special Delivery. The RCGP will return all videotapes and logbooks to the Deanery Offices via the same means.
