Requirements of GP Trainers
- Protected time for the GP Registrar is vital.
- Ensure that they and their GP Registrar are familiar with the
marking schedule
- Ensure that the GP Registrar has had sufficient training and
reached a sufficient standard to make recordings and submissions
appropriate. It is best practice for the GP trainer to advise on
submission of a videotape following formative assessment of a GP
Registrar’s performance in consultations.
- Trainers may wish to ensure that the videotape is representative
of the GP Registrar’s performance but should not be involved in
any detailed editing of the videotape. Trainers should, however, be
able to give technical advice.
- Ensure that they are fully equipped with the necessary skills to
put
videotapes together so as to ensure reasonable technical quality in
videos made by their GP Registrars.
- Sign the COGPED videotape Declaration form to confirm that the
videotape is the work of the GP Registrar.
