I am due to start my GPR year in February 2007; I will have completed 2 years in hospital posts by that time. Can I do the nMRCGP?

No - GPRs who begin their final year of GP training in Feb 07 are not eligible to sit the nMRCGP. Any GPR who has less than one year’s training to complete from August 2007 should complete the old assessments.

Summative Assessment will be acceptable for CCT purposes, and you can undertake the old MRCGP exam to enable you to obtain membership of the RCGP (NB – the closing date for new applications to the MRCGP is 29 August 2007). There is a year-long transition period from the introduction of the nMRCGP during which time the old assessments will still be available. However please be aware that you should complete these assessments by 31 July 2008 - they will not be available after that time.
