I am due to finish my training at the end of July 2008, and I would like to do the nMRCGP – my final year of training is made up of 6 months Psychiatry post, followed by final 6 months in GP. Can I do nMRCGP? Will I need to do a year’s worth of WPBA assessments in my last 6 months GP post? Can I do WPBA in my hospital post?

Yes, the assessments under WPBA have been designed to be undertaken in both the hospital and GP settings of training - whilst in a Psychiatry post you will undertake those relevant to a hospital setting. (eg, DOPS, mini-CEX, MSF, etc)

In answer to the second question, no, during the last 6 months of training you will be expected to do just the last 6 months worth of assessments relevant to general practice. (eg, CBD, COT, PSQ, MSF)

Please see the RCGP's website for further details about the assessments.
